Fashion and music, Paris wakes up to summer
Published on 9 May 2017 in Events
May ends with the Villette Sonique festival from the 25th to the 31st, while July begins with Fashion Week from the 2nd to the 6th – surely enough to satisfy all tastes. The eclectic range of events in Paris at the start of summer allows you to discover two very different worlds and maybe a third during your stay at the Les Theatres Hotel.
On the lawns of La Villette
Called Feed Back when it was founded in 2003 and renamed Villette Sonique in 2006, this festival is praised for its originality and richness and for its inspired programming. This artistic event is anchored in its era yet remains conscious of current trends – its adaptability makes it a safe bet for all music fans. This year, at the Trabendo, in the Grande Halle, on the lawns, at the Philharmonie, and at the Cabaret Sauvage, you’ll see established artists and rising talent. The unassailable Annette Peacock, UK techno star, Randomer, Tunisia’s Deena Abdelwahed or Belgian duo Pizza Noise Mafia – these internationally recognised musicians cover every genre. The time has come for you to discover one of them – or all of them!
On the podium for Haute Couture Fashion Week
The clattering of heels, the fluid sway of fabrics, the brilliant glitter of jewellery, the stunning hairstyles – the Fashion Week opens in Paris and designers, models, photographers and fashion enthusiasts flock to the capital. Only a few know where the shows will take place. Venues are well kept secrets although the names Grand Palais, Salle Wagram, the Oratory of the Louvre, the Palais des Beaux-Arts and the Georges-Pompidou Centre are whispered. Heads are shaken – only the insiders really know. Chanel, Balmain, Valentino, Mugler, Elie Saab, Yohji Yamamoto will be there along with many others. Hundreds of flashbulbs will dazzle and pop – that’s for sure!
