Published on 14 September 2014 in News of the month

We love to keep our finger on the pulse of the cultural scene here in Paris and present it to you via the news of the Hotel Les Théâtres. As you know, Paris is one of the foremost cities of culture and art in the world. We are very proud of that fact and take great delight in sharing our recommendations with you so that when you come to stay with us you can avail yourself of the myriad opportunities the city offers.

Contemporary Art, operatic magic and staying up all night

A major element of the cultural identity of Paris is art. Some of the greatest art shows in the world take place here, and upcoming in late October is FIAC, the internationally famous contemporary art event that takes place primarily in the Grand Palais, but spreads its wings even wider, so that related displays and installations spring up in other parts of the capital.

If your tastes run more in the direction of the great musical works that form the repertoires of opera companies around the world, then you should know that one of the greatest of these, the Opera National de Paris, has announced a full and superb programme of performances for the upcoming season.

But firstly, are you aware that around 120 countries worldwide stage all night arts festivals? These have become hugely popular in recent years, but there is nothing quite like the Nuit Blanche of Paris. This art trail will show you the City of Light as you have never seen it before.

See how much fun You can have on a Sleepless Night in Paris

Nocturnal arts festivals are now celebrated in more than a hundred countries worldwide, but we at the Hotel Les Théâtres feel that the Nuit Blanche of Paris lays claim to being one of the finest. Throughout the night of October 4th you can follow a trail across the city that will lead you to places of astonishment, beauty, inspiration and the unexpected. Fifty artists will be presenting their work. Museums, galleries and other public institutions will open their doors until the small hours and admission will be free. This could well turn out to be the most incredible night you have ever spent.

Art attack; The FIAC International Contemporary Art Fair

Since its inception in 1974 the Foire Internationale d’Art Contemporain, FIAC, has maintained a supremely high standard in both content and presentation. To visit this world renowned show is to have your finger firmly on the pulse of the contemporary art scene. Whether you are a professional, a dealer, a collector or simply have an interest in today’s cutting edge art, then you should not miss FIAC, from October 23rd to 26th, in the unique surroundings of the Grand Palais and in other locations throughout Paris. This is a chance to view thousands of works and discover talents you will grow to love.
